What determines the cost of the build
| Factor | What it affects |
|---|---|
| Number of pages | A landing page, a five page site and a site with dozens of service pages are three different jobs |
| Design | Customising a ready-made theme or a design built from scratch around your brand |
| Copy and photos | Whether you supply them or they need to be written, translated and photographed |
| Features | Quote form, appointment booking, map, a second language, a client area |
| Integrations | CRM, newsletter, booking system, Google Analytics and Google Ads |
| Platform | WordPress, a site builder or custom code, each with a different maintenance cost afterwards |
| Moving from an old site | Redirects from the old addresses, so your Google rankings are not lost |
That is why “how much is a website?” gets such different answers. Two quotes for a “company website” can describe completely different things: one a ready-made theme filled with the copy you send, the other design, copywriting, a foundation for Google and tracking.
Types of website and what each includes
- Landing page: one page for one service or campaign, with one goal: get a message or a phone call. A very good fit for ads.
- Company website: home, services, about, work, contact. The most common case for a small business.
- Content site: a blog, many service pages, maybe two languages. It needs the right structure from day one to climb in Google.
- Site with features: bookings, a members' area, a catalogue with filters. Here the site starts to look like an app, and the cost rises accordingly.
If you want to sell online, that is an e-shop, with costs of its own: we break them down in How much does an e-shop cost in 2026.
The running costs after the build
| Running cost | What it is | When you pay it |
|---|---|---|
| Domain | The site's address (.gr or .com) | Every year, to the registrar |
| Hosting | The server the site lives on | Every month or every year |
| Business email | Addresses like info@yourname.gr | Per user, every month or every year |
| Maintenance | Updates, backups, security, small changes | A subscription or per job |
| Licences | Premium themes, plugins, fonts | Usually every year |
| Advertising | Google Ads, Meta | For as long as you want to bring in traffic |
One real price, for email: Google Workspace Business Starter costs €6.80 per user per month on an annual commitment, excluding VAT, according to Google's official pricing page for Greece (October 2026). What each of these is, and what must be in your name, is in Domain, hosting and business email.

The hidden costs of a cheap site
- Slow on phones: cheap hosting and heavy themes make pages slow, and visitors leave before they see what you offer. See Core Web Vitals in plain words.
- Plugins nobody updates: a WordPress site without updates will run into a security problem sooner or later.
- Nothing in your name: a domain and hosting in your builder's account mean you depend on them for every change.
- No foundation for Google: titles, descriptions, structure and speed that nobody thought about during the build cost more to fix later.
- Starting again in a few years: a site that cannot grow with you is a site you pay for twice.
How to compare two quotes
- Ask in writing which pages and which features are included.
- Ask who writes the copy and who finds the photos.
- Ask for the first year's running costs in writing: domain, hosting, email, maintenance, licences.
- Ask whether the domain and the hosting account will be in your name.
- Ask what is done for Google: titles, descriptions, speed, Search Console, Google Business Profile.
- Ask who answers if something breaks after launch, and at what cost.
- Ask to see sites that are live today, not just images.

Frequently asked questions
What does the cost of a website depend on?
Mostly on the number of pages, whether the design is ready-made or made for you, who writes the copy and the features you need, such as bookings or a second language.
What running costs does a website have?
A domain every year, hosting, business email per user and maintenance. If it uses premium themes or plugins, their licences too.
Should I build my own site with a site builder?
For a first, simple presence, maybe. But once the site has to bring in customers from Google or from ads, structure, speed and copy make the difference.
Who should own the domain?
You. The domain and the hosting account should be in your business's name, even if someone else manages them.
Is the groundwork for Google part of the build?
It should be. Proper titles and descriptions, page structure, speed, a sitemap and Search Console are easier to set up during the build than afterwards.
